Applied Linguistics Alumnae
Specialization:
Ph.D. program in East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies.
Bio:
Research interests: Second language acquisition, computer-mediated communication and Chinese language learning, language contact and impact on the development of the Chinese language.
My current research explores how advanced-level Chinese learners interact with each other during text chat, and if and in what ways such interactions could be beneficial to their Chinese learning processes. Adding the Emphasis in Applied Linguistics has helped me understand second language acquisition. The courses I have taken have provided me with theoretical frameworks and methodologies for conducting research, and equipped me with pedagogical techniques for improving my classroom teaching.
