Adding the Emphasis in Applied Linguistics to my Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literature was one of the most rewarding experiences of my graduate study at UCSB.  Under the mentorship of the excellent faculty affiliated with the Emphasis, I had the opportunity to take part in stimulating and relevant courses and projects that prepared me to be a more effective language teacher at UCSB and beyond.
